When we woke up Wednesday morning, it looked like a great day.
Wednesday, May 20- The Court Tavern (New Brunswick, NJ) with Dead Wings, Living Mercury and Huldra
Fueled only by a lobster roll from the Lobster Stop in Quincy, MA, Jamie propelled us through sheer force of will through a punishing 7-hour drive, including TRAFFIC OF UNRELENTING SAVAGERY in Yonkers, NY and the New Jersey Turnpike, from Hull to New Brunswick.
To make a long story, which includes serious car accidents involving members of two different bands, short, the show got cancelled last-minute. So last-minute, in fact, that my buddy Luke Bodenstein, who used to play drums in the NJ post-hardcore band Ex Number Five, and Johnny from Thera Roya showed up just after we pulled the plug.
So we spent the evening chilling with them, rapping about metal, music writing, Allen Epley, Failure, and how the rent is too damn high. And then we got a hotel room.
Thanks to Kelsey, Rocky, and Courtney for being super cool about this whole thing, and to Luke for getting us hooked up with them. We sincerely hope everyone from Huldra and Dead Wings is OK, and we’ll be back to blow the doors off the Court Tavern as soon as we can.
Here’s Luke and me at the end of the night. And to our left, a Dunkin’ Donuts.
